Its place in the tariff, the GST entries that name it and the export incentives on it — Duty Drawback, RoDTEP and RoSCTL.

Codes as on the GST portal’s HSN list (24 April 2026) and DGFT’s RoDTEP schedule; GST entries from Notifications 9/2025 and 10/2025-Central Tax (Rate) as amended; incentive rates as the FxLayer platform applies them. General information, not advice: confirm the classification with your customs broker or chartered accountant.

How it reads a code

Eight digits, four levels

The first six digits are the Harmonized System every customs authority uses. India adds two more for the tariff item, and that eight-digit code goes on the Shipping Bill, the Bill of Entry and the export invoice.

The code list

Current lines first

A line on DGFT’s RoDTEP Appendix 4R or 4RE is marked On DGFT’s schedule. Chapters outside RoDTEP — apparel, made-ups, steel, ores and fuels — come from the GST portal’s HSN list and are marked Confirm, because that list also keeps superseded codes.

GST

Every entry that names it

The GST schedules name chapters, headings, subheadings or tariff items, often with a description or a condition (sale value, use, packing). The finder lists each entry in force that covers the code, most specific first, so the description that fits your goods decides.

Export incentives

The platform’s own rates

Duty Drawback, RoDTEP and RoSCTL rates come from the schedule the FxLayer platform uses, for each kind of exporter: DTA, Advance Authorisation / EOU / SEZ and Special Advance Authorisation. Where the drawback item decides the rate, every item under the heading is listed.

Questions

About the HSN code finder

For goods, yes in practice. The first six digits are the international Harmonized System; India adds two more for the tariff item. Customs calls the eight-digit code the tariff item, DGFT the ITC-HS code and GST the HSN code. A Shipping Bill or a Bill of Entry always takes all eight digits.
A code marked On DGFT's schedule is on DGFT's RoDTEP Appendix 4R or 4RE, so it is a current tariff line. Apparel, made-ups, steel, ores, fuels and a few other chapters are outside RoDTEP, so their codes come from the GST portal's HSN list, which also keeps some superseded codes. Confirm such a code in the Customs Tariff before you put it on a Shipping Bill or an invoice.
It lists every entry of the GST rate schedules in force that names the code's chapter, heading, subheading or tariff item, most specific first, with the schedule, description and notification. Where more than one entry names the same heading, the description of your goods decides which applies, so read the entries rather than only the rate.
From the same schedule the FxLayer platform uses: DGFT's RoDTEP Appendix 4R and 4RE, CBIC's Duty Drawback All Industry Rates under 77/2023-Customs (N.T.) as amended, and the Ministry of Textiles' RoSCTL schedules, with any amendment published since laid over them. Each rate shows its notification.
No. The finder needs no sign-in and keeps nothing you type. It answers from FxLayer's public reference data.
