Start with the HS code

The three schemes are worked out side by side as you type, with each cap and its notification.

Rates from DGFT’s RoDTEP Appendix 4R and 4RE, CBIC’s All Industry Rates of Duty Drawback (77/2023-Customs (N.T.) as amended) and the Ministry of Textiles’ RoSCTL schedules, with the updates published since, as the FxLayer platform applies them. General information, not advice: what is credited depends on the Shipping Bill and customs’ assessment.

How it is worked out

Three schemes, one shipment line

Each scheme is read for the HS code on the Shipping Bill date and for the kind of exporter, then applied to the FOB value in rupees and limited by its cap per unit.

Duty Drawback

Paid in cash

The All Industry Rate for the drawback tariff item, as a share of FOB, capped per unit where the schedule says so; a fixed amount per gram or kilogram for gold and silver articles. Exports under Special Advance Authorisation take the reduced rates of the Table to condition 9(ii).

RoDTEP

Credited as an e-scrip

The rate for the eight-digit line in Appendix 4R (DTA exports) or 4RE (Advance Authorisation, EOU and SEZ), on FOB, with its cap per unit. A notified cut — such as the half rate of 23 February to 22 March 2026 — is applied for the dates it covers.

RoSCTL

Apparel and made-ups

Chapters 61, 62 and 63 only, DTA exports, by drawback tariff item: the State and Central levies are each worked out on FOB and each limited by its own cap. Special Advance Authorisation exports take the reduced Schedule 3 and 4 rates.

Questions

About the drawback calculator

Under the All Industry Rate schedule, the drawback is the rate for the drawback tariff item, as a percentage of the FOB value, limited by the cap per unit where the schedule gives one. A few items carry a fixed amount per unit instead, such as gold and silver jewellery. The item is declared on the Shipping Bill and the amount is paid in cash to the bank account on it.
Both can be declared on the same Shipping Bill, each at the rate its own schedule gives for the goods. Check whether the drawback rate you declare is the full All Industry Rate or the customs-portion rate the schedule provides where RoDTEP is also claimed. Apparel and made-ups take RoSCTL instead of RoDTEP.
Most RoDTEP lines and many drawback items limit the amount to a value per unit (per kg, per piece, per square metre). Without the quantity the rate on the FOB value is shown, which is the most the line can earn; with it, the cap is applied and the lower figure is the one you will be paid.
The FOB value in rupees on the Shipping Bill, which customs converts at the exchange rate CBIC notifies for exports on the date of the Shipping Bill. Enter that rate, or the rupee FOB value directly.
It is what the notified schedules give for the goods on that date, as the FxLayer platform applies them. What is credited depends on what is declared on the Shipping Bill and on customs' assessment: a different drawback item, a wrong exporter type or a missing declaration changes it. Use it to check a claim, not as a promise of payment.
